WELCOME TO THE WATAMU SNAKE FARM
The Watamu Snake Farm is a must-visit attraction for all nature lovers and curious minds visiting Watamu, Kenya. It serves as a crucial hub for reptile conservation and education, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of reptiles.
Conveniently located just a short 5-minute drive from the hotels in Watamu, we boast one of the largest and most diverse collections of East African venomous snakes in East Africa, including The Ashe’s Spitting cobra and the infamous Black Mamba. Our knowledgeable guides and skilled venomous snake handlers are on hand to guide you through the facility, providing valuable insights into the unique characteristics, lifestyles, and habits of these mysterious creatures.
Make sure not to miss the live milking demonstrations at 10am and 11am and the snake handling demonstration at 3pm on weekdays. These demonstrations offer a firsthand look at the intricate workings of these fascinating reptiles and are sure to be a highlight of your visit.
We are open from 9am to 3:30 pm, providing ample time for visitors to explore and learn. Whether you’re a seasoned reptile enthusiast or simply curious about these creatures, a trip to the farm promises an educational and unforgettable experience.

Snake farm TOUR
Feel free to pop in and enjoy a tour by your private guide, who is also a venomous snake handler and happy to answer all your reptile related questions.

MILKING DEMOS
Monday to Friday at 10am and 11am we have a venomous snake milking demonstration, and one of our snake handlers will talk you through the whole process and answer any questions you have. Definitely a highlight of a visit to the Watamu Snake Farm.
REPTILE RANGERs
Become a Reptile Ranger and join our kids club every Saturday morning. The kids have so much fun feeding the tortoises, digging for clues and learning more about our Reptile Friends!
Children under the age of 4 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Snake Safaris
There is nothing as exhilarating as seeing a snake in the wild! Our guided snake safaris provide an amazing opportunity to explore the wilds of Kenya with a knowledgeable and skilled snake handler to do just that.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING
As with all outstanding photography involving wildlife, success is achieved through more than just great camera work. As you are dealing with complex and unpredictable subjects that often don’t want to be seen, an equally important step in producing stand-out photographs is to understand (and find) the animal you’re after.
At Watamu Snake Farm we can provide you with that opportunity to photograph a huge variety of both venomous and non venomous snakes, often not easily found or seen, and certainly not so they can be photographed.
Our professional handlers will help pose subjects in natural environments within the snake farm premises for realistic images, taken safely.
